Understanding EA Foundation certification

In this note

Key takeaways

  • Remember 24 correct answers out of 40 for OGEA-101.
  • Understanding concepts matters more than memorizing a particular wording.
  • Preparation does not guarantee an individual examination result.
01

The intended level

TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Foundation covers the essential knowledge of enterprise architecture and the TOGAF Standard, 10th Edition. It develops recognition of concepts, terminology, the ADM, and governance practices. The Practitioner level then addresses applying that knowledge to situations; Foundation preparation therefore does not replace practical training.

Foundation, Practitioner, and combined certification paths exist. Checking the examination name and code before registering prevents confusion between OGEA-101 and the older TOGAF 9 Foundation examination. Certification conditions and registration arrangements should be checked with The Open Group.

02

Useful examination facts

OGEA-101 has 40 multiple-choice questions, a standard duration of 60 minutes, and a passing score of 60%, meaning 24 correct answers. It is a closed-book examination. Any language accommodations, retake rules, and local arrangements should be checked in the official information when booking.

  • Learn why an option is appropriate and why the alternatives are inappropriate.
  • These lessons and quizzes provide independent preparation; they do not reproduce confidential examination questions.
